In short: ¡Dale! doesn't collect any personal data. There's no account, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking – neither in the app nor on this website. The app doesn't send anything to us or to third parties. On iPhone, iPad and Mac, ¡Dale! can sync your progress between your devices through your own iCloud storage; we have no access to it.

The app
What is stored on your device
- Learning progress: reviews, XP, streak, badges, completed stops and your answers are stored in a database on your device (with iCloud sync also in your iCloud, see below). We have no access to it. You can delete everything in the app under Profile → Settings → Your data → “Delete progress”, or by deleting the app. If iCloud sync is on, this also applies to your other devices.
- Settings: your preferences (e.g. course and language, appearance, daily goal and reminders) are stored on your device as well. “Delete progress” leaves them in place; they are removed together with the app.
- Device identifier: so that the progress of several devices can be merged, each device gets a random identifier that is stored securely on the device (on iPhone, iPad and Mac in the keychain). It is only used to tell your devices’ data apart. It is included in your backups and in the sync files in your iCloud, but it never reaches us.
- Trial and full version: the app remembers on your device whether the full version has been bought and when your 14-day trial started. On iPhone, iPad and Mac it also keeps this date in the keychain, so the trial doesn’t start over if you reinstall the app.
On iPhone, iPad and Mac, what is in the keychain (the device identifier and the trial start) may stay on the device even after you delete the app.
Backups
With “Export backup”, the app creates a file containing your progress (including your answers), your settings, the start of your trial and the device identifier – never the purchase of the full version. Where you send or save it (e.g. Files, AirDrop, email) is up to you. When importing, the app reads the file only on your device.
Separately, your device’s own backups (in iCloud or, on Android, in your Google account) may include the app’s data, depending on how you have set them up. Apple or Google manage these backups, not us.
iCloud sync (iPhone, iPad, Mac)
If you’re signed in with your Apple Account on your Apple device and iCloud Drive is turned on, ¡Dale! keeps a copy of your progress (reviews, XP, streak, badges, stops and your answers) in the app’s private area of your iCloud. This keeps your devices with the same Apple Account in step. Sync is on by default. The storage is provided by Apple (in the EU: Apple Distribution International Ltd.); Apple’s iCloud terms and privacy policy apply. We have no server of our own and no access to this data.
Your settings, the reminders and your purchase (only the App Store knows about that) are not synced. You can turn sync off in the app under Profile → Settings → Your data → “iCloud sync”. To delete the copy in your iCloud, open the Settings app on your iPhone or iPad and go to your name → iCloud → Manage Storage → ¡Dale!. There is no sync on Android.
Reminders
Reminders are local notifications on your device: the daily reminder and, depending on your settings, the streak saver, the daily goal nudge, the word of the day, the weekly recap and a notice before your trial ends. The app puts them together on your device from your progress (such as reviews that are due, your streak or the time you usually practise) and hands them to the system for delivery. There is no push service and no server; none of this leaves your device. The app only asks for permission when you turn reminders on. Notifications can be visible on the lock screen – you can hide previews in your device settings.
Speech output
Pronunciation uses the voices on your device; no data is sent to us. The app doesn’t use the microphone.
Purchases in the App Store and on Google Play
The app starts the 14-day trial itself, without any payment details. Buying the full version is handled by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play). We don’t receive any payment or account data. The privacy policies of Apple and Google apply.
Ratings and crash reports
The request for a rating is shown by the operating system; your rating goes directly to Apple or Google. The app only remembers on your device in which version it asked. If you’ve allowed sharing analytics with app developers in your system settings, Apple or Google provide us with anonymous crash reports.
This website
Hosting
This website is hosted by Amazon Web Services (AWS): the files are stored by Amazon S3 in Frankfurt am Main, Germany, and delivered through the Amazon CloudFront network. The provider is Amazon Web Services EMEA SARL, 38 Avenue John F. Kennedy, L-1855 Luxembourg. When you open a page, AWS processes technically necessary data – your IP address, date and time, the requested address and details of your browser and operating system – to deliver the page and protect it from attacks. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in a secure and fast website (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
We have a data processing agreement with AWS (part of the AWS service terms). CloudFront may also deliver pages through servers outside the EU; Amazon Web Services, Inc. is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework. We haven’t turned on access logs and don’t analyse any log files. More in the AWS privacy notice.
No cookies, no tracking
This website doesn’t set any cookies, doesn’t store anything in your browser and doesn’t embed any third-party content: fonts, images and store badges are served from our own storage. There are no analytics or advertising tools. The start address picks the matching language version based on your browser’s language setting; nothing is stored or sent in the process.
Links to the stores
The App Store and Google Play buttons lead to pages run by Apple or Google, where their privacy policies apply. The links include a campaign label (e.g. “web-en” or the name of an ad campaign), so that App Store Connect and the Google Play Console show us in aggregate how many downloads came through this website. We don’t receive any personal data this way.
Contact by email
If you email us (e.g. via “Help & feedback” in the app), we process your address, your message and the app version from the subject line only to reply to you (Art. 6(1)(b) and (f) GDPR). Our email is hosted by Microsoft 365 (Microsoft Ireland Operations Limited), with whom we have a data processing agreement. We delete your message once your request has been dealt with and no retention obligation applies.
Your rights
You have the right of access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability and objection (Art. 15–21 GDPR). Our competent supervisory authority is the Spanish data protection authority, the Agencia Española de Protección de Datos (AEPD). You can also lodge a complaint with the data protection authority in your own country. For any questions about your data, write to us at dale@sotosoft.es.
